Waisted apparel

Waisted Apparel was created in May of 2019; I knew I wanted to create something unique and beautiful and unlike anything I had ever seen, so I went for it and the rest was history. When it all started I was determined to make the coolest brand ever, but I wasn't aware of the fast-fashion industry, or anything about these clothes except for the fact that I was selling them. Then, about a year and a half into it I realized I was also contributing to this extremely harmful industry, and that's when I decided to change.

What has changed

The decision to start designing and sewing my own clothes came after realizing the impact I was having on not just the environment, but also people's lives. The sad truth about re-selling clothes from whole sellers and vendors is that the majority of these clothes are made overseas in countries that have poor labor laws and unfair wages. Fast fashion is also a huge contributor to pollution, it is responsible for 20% of water pollution, 1.5 trillion liters of water wasted yearly, and over 190,000 tons of microplastic fibers that end up in our ocean every year, and that's just to name a few. While it's easy for us businesses or consumers to ignore these facts, it doesn't make them any less true.

I knew that I could no longer allow myself or my business to be a part of the fast-fashion industry, and while teaching myself how to sew has been a challenge, it's been the best change I could've implemented in my brand. We also try to use Recycled fabrics for as many of our collections as possible to help minimize our carbon footprint, to know if your item is made of recycled materials you can check the fabric info tab under the products page.

Our mission

Since we're seeing trends come and go faster than ever now, my goal is to create a staple and timeless wardrobe with pieces that can be worn throughout all the different fashion waves. Our collections typically consist of only a few items, and this is because our clothes are meant to become a favorite, and not just a one time wear.  They're designed to be re-styled and re-worn, and little by little we hope to slow down the fast fashion train. We've also created a Lookbook and styling video for inspo, go check them out and don't be shy to re-wear your clothes, that's what they were made for :)
